My babies are the most precious thing in my car so I would not put them in a safety seat that wasn't highly rated I don't care if I got it free or not! That you can use the seat rear-facing for a baby up to 40 pounds is a big positive because I like to ride my babies in that position as long as possible. The only negative I read in the review of the FREE SAFETY 1st BABY CAR SEAT is that this seat is a bit taller than some seats which might make it unsuitable for some compact cars. I drive a mini-van so I think I would be ok, but you might want to double check before you jump in and buy one or try to win the free baby car seat only to find you can't use it.
