In fact I became such a fan of swaddling blankets that I swaddled all of my girls on occasion because I found that the practice helped them calm down and sleep better at night, which meant mom and dad slept better and we all know that if mommy is well-rested the entire family from newborns to toddlers seem calmer and more relaxed. PLUS, I have read articles that state that perhaps the most important benefit of using a swaddling blanket is that it helps reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
